Eykona Technologies has identified a substantial and recognised unmet need in the objective measurement and characterisation of wounds such as diabetic ulcers. The company is positioned to meet this need through the use of a patented 3D imaging medical device based on cutting edge technology developed in the University of Oxford. The company plans to initially enter this market in the US. The product is a medical device imaging product consisting of a proprietary camera and software package. Eykona intends to make its product the gold standard for clinical assessment and characterisation of wounds. The product can subsequently be marketed to other sectors such as cosmetics and dermatology, where dermal imaging can deliver significant benefits.

 

Current commercial status

Eykona Technologies has developed pre-production prototype systems comprising hardware and software, and is engaged in in-clinic trials at key diabetic centres in the UK. US in-clinic trials are imminent. Eykona has strong support from well-known city investors and will be seeking its first major funding round in 2008
